ARTS ON MAIN SOLO EXHIBITION
Discover the haunting world of What Follows Is True: Crescent Hotel by Sean Fitzgibbon, now showing at Arts On Main in Van Buren.
This immersive exhibition, over a decade in the making, unravels the bizarre and chilling true story of Norman Baker, a notorious conman who turned the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs into a fraudulent “cancer hospital” during the late 1930s. Through evocative, atmospheric paintings, Sean brings this dark chapter of Ozark history vividly to life.
The show pairs with Sean’s acclaimed graphic nonfiction book of the same title, seamlessly blending art, history, and storytelling into a gripping visual narrative.
On view: July 19 – September 27
Step inside a world where true crime, folklore, and regional history intertwine, and see the Crescent Hotel as you’ve never experienced it before.
Through September 27 • Arts On Main • 415 Main St, Van Buren, AR 72956

BOOK RECOMMENDATION
I’m a big fan of narrative nonfiction, and one of my favorite summer reads is The Lost City of Z by David Grann. This 2009 book follows legendary British explorer Percy Fawcett (upper left image), who vanished with his son in 1925 while searching for the mythical “Lost City of Z” in the Amazon. Grann mixes Fawcett’s incredible story with his own trek into the rainforest, uncovering fascinating clues about what might have happened to the explorer. Highly recommend it if you're looking for an adventure you can’t put down!
