Horror Comic Project In Development

It's been a busy summer.  When not teaching art classes I've been illustrating a comic horror anthology short story for an east coast publishing company.  The book is due out the first of the year.  I'm working from a short story (not a script) so it  has allowed for some creative freedoms such as the look of various characters, environment, and shots as well as media, placement of panels, dialogue balloons and narration boxes.   As the publishing date draws closer I'll be sure and include much more info about the upcoming book.  Also, I'll be sharing a bit of my process from thumbnails to final pages in the coming months.  Stay tuned! 

Art Central Summer Workshops For Kids

This summer's Art Central Kid's summer workshop theme is "Learning about Famous Artists".  Lets work with CLAY, CARDBOARD and COLLAGE this summer.  We're drawing inspiration for my classes this summer from Neo-Dada, Abstract Expressioinist and Pop artist Robert Rauschenberg,

Fantasy Clay Creatures July 16 / 9:00-3:30

Students will draw their own fantasy creatures, both front and back views, then choose one to sculpt, learning wire armature construction and adding clays to complete the figures.

Who's Robert Rauschenberg?? July 17 /  9:00-3:30

Study about this unique and famous American Pop Artist, both a painter and graphic artist!  Students will look at his collage art whose earlier works anticipated the Pop Movement, and then create their own Rauchenberg inspired piece of art!

Cardboard Craziness July 19 / 9:00-3:30

Create your own dimensional works of art using all parts, both the smooth and the rough textured sides of corrugated cardboard, and then paint your creations!

Also a quick reminder of upcoming classes I'll be teaching classes at NWA Community Creative Center at Nadine Baum Studios from July 29 thru August 9.

July 29-August 2 Acrylic Painting For Kids 9-11:30 am, Ages 5-7 / 1-3:30pm Ages 8-10

 Kids will create several masterpieces in this week of projects focusing on acrylic paint.

This August I'll be teaching an adult drawing class as well.

August 5-9 Adult Drawing Class   6:00-8:00 pm, Ages 16 and up / Develop technical skills through guided activities with multiple materials and methods.    

Summer Kids' and Adult Classes At NWA Community Creative Center

Are your kids already so bored this summer they are starting to draw on walls?  You'll wanna make sure it looks good.  Sign them up for my summer kids' drawing class I'll be teaching next week.  Classes fill up fast!  Be sure to pre-register through the Walton Box Office.

July 8-12 Let's Draw!  9-11:30 am  Ages 5-7  /  1-3:30 pm,  Ages 8-10 Kids learn and the fundamentals and basics of drawing.
