Join artist and author Sean Fitzgibbon at Northwest Missouri State University for a talk at the Charles Johnson Theater in Maryville, MO. He’ll discuss his award-winning graphic nonfiction book What Follows Is True: Crescent Hotel.
This 240-page, fully painted work reveals the eerie true story of the Crescent Hotel’s time as the Baker Hospital, a Depression-era cancer “treatment” center run by Norman Baker. Blending art, history, and archival research, Fitzgibbon brings this strange chapter of Americana vividly to life.
The book earned a Kirkus Star, praised as “a gripping, moody, illustrated chronicle of the notorious Crescent Hotel.” Books and original artwork will be available at the event.
