More production images and my early concept art from the indie sci-fi film Command Magellan. This schematic on right taken from a test video shows the basic blueprint of how doors open and how a pilot boards their scout ship aboard the Magellan. The pilot simply backs into the door and into their vessel. This is an early stage schematic but will look completely real in final cut although I think the CG blue prints look really cool and I enjoy the process and seeing it all coming together.
NWA Community Creative Center Exhibit
Thru the months of March and April I'll be exhibiting work available for purchase at Walton Art Center's NWA Community Creative Center (Nadine Baum Studios). The Creative Center is also home to TheatreSquared which was recognized by the American Theatre Wing, founder of the Tony Awards, as one of the nation's ten most promising emerging theatres. The production Next To Normal is winner of three Tony Awards and 2010 Pulitzer Prize for drama and will be showing April 18, 19, 20 and 21. We recently saw a production there and it was fantastic. Be sure to check out a show and the exhibit this April!
Command Magellan Production: Magellan Corridor / Set Building
Here is some of my concept art (top left) along with production shots from the upcoming sci-fi film Command Magellan. These images are of the interior corridor set pieces found in the starship Magellan. The green screen or chroma keying is used in post production for compositing two images together based on color hues. My concept art in the top left shows how the green screen areas along the corridor sides will be windows or porthole areas with space visible beyond. This is a very talented and dedicated production team and it's great being able to contribute and see all the elements come together.
I'll post more soon.
