Stories To Draw From 002

WHAT FOLLOWS IS TRUE … The Winchester Mystery House

This a watercolor I did for an upcoming installment of WFIT along with some of my research. This story has fascinated me since childhood. After visiting this labyrinthine mansion in San Jose and doing some research, I found its true history far more compelling than the legend. In 1886, Sarah Winchester, heir to the rifle fortune, began construction. For 38 years, the Victorian Gothic house grew without an architect’s plan, filled with staircases leading nowhere and doors opening onto walls. When Sarah died in 1922, 160 rooms remained and questions that remain unanswered. This book will illuminate the truth as we explore its dark corridors.
