ILLUSTRATED ARKANSAS: THE ART OF COMICS EXHIBITION AT CALS UNDERGROUND GALLERY

This original page from my graphic nonfiction What Follows Is True: Crescent Hotel will be on display at The Illustrated Arkansas exhibition at the CALS Underground Gallery at Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square in Little Rock. This exhibition features artists living and working in the state who have created or contributed to print or digital comics and graphic novels. The exhibition will represent a wide range of illustration styles and media of the comics art form.

CALS is excited to display the artwork of graphic artists and spotlight their efforts in the creation of comics and graphic novels in all their forms.

CALS would especially like to thank Randy Duncan, the director for the Center for Comics Studies at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, for the concept of the exhibition and all his challenging work in making it happen. Vist CALS for more info HERE.

GARLAND COUNTY LIBRARY PRESENTATION

What Follows Is True: Crescent Hotel is a graphic nonfiction that explores the stories surrounding Eureka Springs’ Crescent Hotel’s strange and tragic two years as The Baker Hospital, a Depression-Era cancer hospital.

Author Sean Fitzgibbon will break down why he’s drawn to unusual places, how he got involved with the infamous Crescent Hotel, and how he went about conducting research for his book.

Sean Fitzgibbon will be signing books and discussing his new graphic nonfiction What Follows Is True: Crescent Hotel. Pick up your copy of this beautiful, haunting, and unique hardcover book and meet the author!

In What Follows Is True: Crescent Hotel, Fitzgibbon tells the story of the Crescent Hotel, starting with the first visit with his family to the hotel when he was a child. He depicts the mythologies surrounding the Crescent Hotel’s strange years as the Baker Hospital, a Depression Era cancer hospital in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This story is told using classic illustration skills blended with fine art compositions that produce atmospheric imagery, transporting readers into the hotel’s dark and bizarre past.
